Product Photography – The Best Salesperson

Product Photography

If photography is considered to be an art, product photography should be considered a fine art. Many of the businessmen fail to understand this. It is more like a commercial photography actively representing a product. They rule out the huge marketing potential in advertising photography. Part of this problem arises from the fact that photography itself has never been as easy and technically advanced as before. With the multi-pixel cameras that have more button than that of a spaceship and the software technology that could change a man on earth to a man on space with just a few steps, product photography seems to be anyone’s cup of tea.

But the fact being, product photography has much more than just clicking snaps of the product uploading them to the editing software and applying changes to make them seem better and then imprinting them to the catalog, brochure or the website. Advertising photography is more about selling the product. It doesn’t mean taking a couple of pictures of your product and assuming they are enough for sale.

Consider it this way, a salesman responsible for the sale of an admirable product. He has to walk door to door to make a sale. He rings the doorbell assuming to make a sale but isn’t successful every time. It takes a great deal of effort to sell one. Similarly just showing the product to a customer wouldn’t persuade him to pay their hard earned cash for the product.

Product Photography Prime Focus

Hiring the best salesman to sell your product wouldn’t do the job. He needs to present the customer a chance to look at the product, or maybe a demonstration of it might do the job. Photography also has to reach the targeted audience in a very effective way. This would enable the market of the product, making it impressive. This cannot happen with a low picture quality. Advertising photography needs to do much more than just show the product. It needs to reach the audience and impress them to spend on it.

Product Photography – How to make it happen?

  • To bring the products to life, we need to work on the camera. Better camera, better the picture. High quality and large resolution pictures help the customer examine the product before he makes any move. The clearer the picture, the better the sale.
  • Consumers can touch the products on the websites, therefore takes multiple shots of the product providing a 360 angle view of the product. For better sale, show the product in use, this could gain customer satisfaction.
  • Make sure you don’t distort the picture while transferring it from one system to the other. Do not compromise on the resolution.
  • To provide a clear focus and to ensure a better prominence of the product, it is advisable to use a clear complimenting background. A cluttered background could spoil the whole picture.
  • Use the best product for advertising. Trying not to shoot used or damaged products for photography
  • Make sure when you edit your picture, you use right corrections, reflections and maintain consistency.
